Binary & Hex Game — Practice Decimal, Binary & Hexadecimal Conversion
A free binary and hexadecimal conversion game for AP CSP and CS Foundations: flip bits against the clock, level up from 4-bit to 16-bit numbers, learn with an animated bit-flipper, and convert any base with the built-in calculator. No install, no login.
Common questions
Is the Binary & Hex Game free?
Yes. The game, the animated bit-flipper and the any-base calculator are free and need no account. Signing in only matters when a teacher assigns the game in a CS++ classroom, so your score can count toward the assignment.
What conversions does it practice?
Decimal to binary, binary to decimal, decimal to hexadecimal, hexadecimal to decimal, binary to hex and hex to binary — or a mixed mode. Levels start at 4-bit numbers (0–15) and climb through bytes to 12- and 16-bit values.
How does scoring work?
Every correct conversion earns 10 points times the level, with a streak bonus of up to +100% for consecutive correct answers. Sprint gives you 90 seconds; Arcade drops numbers from the top and you have three lives. Levels rise every five correct answers.
Can teachers assign it?
Yes. In a CS++ classroom, add the Binary & Hex Game to an assignment and set a threshold: a minimum score in one game, a number of correct conversions, or a level to reach — optionally limited to one mode. Progress is scored per assignment and posts to Google Classroom or your LMS like other CS++ work.
