A high school course in 2D game design and JavaScript. Design games on paper, build them with the Phaser framework in the browser, and playtest them with real players. No experience needed.

Common questions

Do I need any programming experience?
No. The course starts with how games work as systems of rules and state, and teaches the JavaScript you need as you build. It is written for high school students in grades 9 through 12.
Do I need to install anything?
No. The Game IDE runs in the browser, including on school Chromebooks. You write JavaScript, press Run, and play your game beside the code.
What is Phaser?
Phaser is an open-source JavaScript framework for 2D games. It supplies the game loop, rendering, input and physics, and you write the scenes and rules that make the game yours.
Does it cost anything?
Every lesson is free with a free CS++ account.
