CS++ for GitHub — Free GitHub Classroom Alternative

Connect classes to GitHub for autograded assignments — a free GitHub Classroom alternative. Auto-creates a private repo per student; scores stream to the gradebook.

Common questions

Is the GitHub integration free?
Yes. Connecting your classes to GitHub for autograded assignments is free with CS++ — there is no separate charge for the integration.
How is this a GitHub Classroom alternative?
It does the same core job: you post a template repo as an assignment, CS++ auto-creates a private repo for each student, GitHub Actions autograde their work, and the scores flow into the CS++ gradebook. A bulk-import wizard makes it easy to set up an existing roster.
How are assignments graded?
Your repo runs autograding tests in GitHub Actions on each push. CS++ reads the results and records per-test detail in the gradebook, and can pass grades back to Google Classroom when linked.
Do I have to write the autograder YAML myself?
No. The assignment builder includes a visual test builder just like GitHub Classroom's: pick a method (input/output, run command, Java, Node, Python, C, C++), fill in a short form, and CS++ generates the complete GitHub Actions workflow — grader steps, score reporter, and a CS++ results table on the run's Summary tab — then installs it in every student repo. If your template already has an autograder, CS++ auto-loads it; and you can always paste or hand-edit YAML instead.
What do students and teachers need?
A teacher installs the CS++ GitHub App on their organization once. Students need a GitHub account to receive their per-student repo. Everything else — repo creation, grading, and gradebook sync — is handled by CS++.
